Creating Reality: Capitalizing On Our Immense Power

Thank you Dr. Julie TwoMoon

Have you ever thought about why things happen? Why sometimes do events not occur when you had them scheduled? Why do some things just keep happening over and over even though you don’t enjoy them, or even welcome them? Is it bad luck? Fate? Or is it due to something else? Have you ever considered the possibility that the cause might in fact be you?

Some may take that to mean they are their own worst enemy. For certain, in the world of spiritual psychology, this idea has sparked billions in books sold. In truth, you create your reality. However, most of the time, you have no idea what you are doing.

I see this time and time again, an anxious patient, spending all of their subconscious energy on the “What if’s” and “What next’s”. Using their voice to say “it is all going to work out” or “I am trying to cope” but the background noise so obviously is panic, anxiety, worry, fear and absolute certainty of dire things to come. All that subconscious energy, is generating reality, thoughts out of control, yet so powerful they are making things happen.

Of course it is easiest to blame the individual….”if you could just think positive none of this would be happening”…this is where the person experiencing the panic attack looks at you and says “If you only knew what I am feeling right now, you would NEVER say that to me.” And they would be right.

The solution doesn’t lie in thinking better, or adopting a more positive attitude, it lies in recognizing just how immensely powerful we each are as individuals. Conscious or not, we are co-creating our experience at every moment. The issue is, most of the time, we are creating without consciousness. Many times in fact, we feel powerless and victimized by the experiences in our lives, unable to see we are in fact the orchestrator of events.

However, we are not to blame. We don’t consciously recognize our power. Nor are we encouraged to do so. We are fed a steady diet of fear, victimization, worry, and potential threat. Therefore, at times, it is next to impossible to even conceptualize the possibility we are in control. Doctor Bruce Lipton puts it best:

“The major problem is that people are aware of their conscious beliefs and behaviors, but not of subconscious beliefs and behaviors. Most people don’t even acknowledge that their subconscious mind is at play, when the fact is that the subconscious mind is a million times more powerful than the conscious mind and that we operate 95 to 99 percent of our lives from subconscious programs. “Your subconscious beliefs are working either for you or against you, but the truth is that you are not controlling your life, because your subconscious mind supersedes all conscious control. So when you are trying to heal from a conscious level – citing affirmations and telling yourself you’re healthy – there may be an invisible subconscious program that’s sabotaging you.”

Buying books with affirmations, CD’s of positive thoughts, or programs which simply promote a think it do it philosophy may be wasted effort based on Dr. Lipton’s work and my own observations. We should instead focus our attention and effort on clearing our path to the subconscious and becoming more present into the very moment we are living. As our presence grows, the role of the subconscious diminishes, and we come fully into the possibilities of our own personal power. I encourage you to contemplate where you may be creating a reality which is less than ideal and begin to come into the present moment and change your future possibilities.
