(Part 7) Victim Archive of Law Enforcement Murders

Pic

Currently, there is no national database documenting the murders of un-armed people by police, security guards or self-appointed vigilantes. Although not all victims found here were weaponless, the fatal murdering of the unarmed: whether they are of ethnic origin, disabled, mentally ill, homeless or their sexual orientation, by Police Departments across the country is unjustified, and the vast majority of officers involved are not being held accountable.

I believe ALL those listed below regardless of whether they were in the process of perpetrating a crime, in a gang, drug possession, incarceration, resisting arrest, alluding, a weapon thrown aside, mentally ill or just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, they are all victims. Victims who loved and were loved. This memorial is dedicated to all the Mothers and Fathers, Sons and Daughters, Husbands and Wife’s, Grandparents, Sisters and Brothers, Nieces and Nephews, Girlfriends, Boyfriends, Lovers, Friends and Neighbors who have lost someone at the hands of law enforcement. For all the heartbreak, shed tears, unanswered questions, lies and grief for a life unfulfilled, to you I give honor, for “there but for the grace of God go I”. May you find peace in knowing their bloodshed will not go unnoticed nor will their life be forgotten.

As we remember victims of violence let us remember the sadness of loss. May that sadness be transformed into compassion for the victim and their loved ones. May the fear struck in us by the power of tragedy give way to reverence at the unending power of unconditional love. May we uncover the energy of our anger and use it to right what is wrong in our own behavior toward one another and to challenge the mindsets and systems which enable and promote violence. May love gently wipe the tears from our eyes and remove the fear from our hearts. Look with favor upon the families and friends who mourn the victims and comfort those who are in grief and despair, that peace, the fruit of justice and charity may reign for each of us gathered here today. For all victims of crime, abuse, harassment and all who commit acts of violence; from those who speak harsh words in anger, to those who hate others who are different from themselves, to those who take the life of another, may we learn to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly.

Unfortunately due to the ongoing killings by Police and vigilantes claiming Stand Your Ground (Castle Doctrine) this list will continue to grow. If you have a family member, friend or know of someone (unarmed) murdered at the hands of Law Enforcement (or others) please let me know and I’ll add their name to this memorandum.

My definition of Unarmed
Please keep in mind I am only able to research and write bio’s on 5-7 victims per day. Each bio is verified through multiple sources, photos are retrieved, copied, cropped. Each bio is written and condensed close as possible to a single paragraph, many have links to READ MORE. Each name, age, state and ethnicity are entered into 3 data bases and then, after all pertinent information has been gathered I individually post to the website. Therefore each bio takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to complete.

It is at my discretion as to what I consider as being unarmed. If the person has a weapon but is unable to use it because it’s under a seat, knocked to the side, fallen to the ground, in someone else’s possession etc. I consider that person unarmed. If someone is shot in the back, I consider that person unarmed. If there appears to be questionable circumstances surrounding the death, I consider that person unarmed. If the person is mentally ill and can be contained without using deadly force, I consider that person unarmed. If ANYONE can be contained without using deadly force, I consider that person unarmed.

There is no reason, in my opinion to shoot someone when police manage to apprehend and incarcerate extraordinarily dangerous serial killers/ mass murderers/spree killers and vigilantes yet cannot manage the capture of citizens of ethnic lineage without executing them.

However, if someone is shooting, holding a weapon or hurting someone (including an officer) and there is absolutely no other way to control them, I consider that person armed. Mind you, I credit witness statements far above police reports.

I DO NOT believe Law Enforcement reports. Lies the police tell that are so familiar anyone can recite them: “Reached for waist band”; “Pointed hand at police in a threatening manner.” “Backed the car toward officers” “Lunged at me” “Had a black object in hand” “Tried to grab gun” “Officers of the Un-Peace” or “Un-Peace Officers” Campaigns were formed against the “Blue Code” supposedly making it more visible to the public eye have taken place but all they seem to be doing is allowing the police to police the police and the police. Police are liars, period. So please don’t think I would even consider relying on their statements. The code of Blue Silence is too real to be ignored, and has been proven over and over again to be the real badge of the law.

As for Grand Juries they’ve been bought and paid for in more cases than can be counted. There is something fundamentally unfair about a grand jury system which doesn’t reflect the racial, political and ethnic diversity of the community it serves and the people it indicts.

Mario RomeroMario“Papaya” Romero 23, Sept. 2, 2012 Vallejo CA – In the midst of investigating a reported burglary down the street, Police Officer Dustin B. Joseph and Officer Sean Kenney said they came upon two men sitting in a white Ford Thunderbird matching the description of a car reportedly associated with an earlier shooting. The driver got out and the officers reported seeing the butt of a handgun in his waistband, police claims the man, partially obscured by the open door of his car, reached for the gun and began to turn toward the officers and Officer Dustin B. Joseph feared for his life. 31 bullets were fired at Romero entering the palms of his hands, his face and mouth as he begged for his life. After the shooting Officer Kenney, entered Romero’s car and handled the pellet gun without gloves. Kenney told investigators that he was going to check it for live ammunition, then realized it had blood on it and that he wasn’t wearing gloves. Analysis of bullet holes through the windshield show they were fired from the ground, not from on top of the car’s hood as Officer Kenney claims. Witness state a fake gun was planted in the car. Officer Sean Kenney was later promoted to detective. Murdered by Sean Kenney and Dustin Joseph of the Vallejo Police Department the same Officers who murdered Jeremiah Moore READ MORE

Jeremiah MooreJeremiah Moore 29, (autism spectrum disorder) Oct. 20, 2012 Vallejo CA – Awakened by loud banging and shouts, Marvin Clouse grabbed a video camera and went outside to investigate. Clouse says he saw his neighbors, Jason Jessie and Jeremiah Moore, smashing the windows of their own cars, parked in front of their house. The men were naked, and Jessie was calling out commands to Moore who had a tendency to follow commands. “I hope this is right, I’m destroying everything. Destroy it, Jeremiah. I want you to destroy it,” Jessie can be heard saying on Clouse’s video. Another neighbor’s unobstructed view “He says the man was waving his arms strangely — a flailing that he couldn’t seem to stop. He says he could clearly see the man’s hands, and there was nothing in them. “What I heard was the officers told him to stop moving, and he can’t stop moving,” Alvarado says. “He starts shaking. That’s when the officer gets, like, scared. He got the gun and shoots him. I know, this guy who was shot, he doesn’t have a rifle in his hands; then police dragged Moore away from the house, “like a piece of garbage.” Murdered by Sean Kenney and Dustin Joseph of the Vallejo Police Department the same Officers who murdered Mario Romero.

Boyd fell to the ground, an officer released a police dog while other officers shot him with bean bag rounds and handcuffed him. As Boyd was on the ground, he said “I can’t move” and “Please don’t hurt me.” The shooting was captured via a helmet-mounted camera by the policemen at scene and released to the public. Albuquerque police said officers were justified in murdering this man because he had made “threatening moves” from 30 feet away. He died the next morning at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Murdered by Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez Albuquerque PD

2 hours before the seemingly premeditated murder of James Boyd, Officer Sandy was caught on a fellow officer’s dash cam announcing his plans to shoot Boyd in the penis with a shotgun.

Peter McWilliamsPeter Alexander McWilliams 50, June 14, 2000 Los Angeles CA – Shortly after California legalized medical marijuana in 1996, the Clinton administration began drug raids on dispensaries and cultivators, even though they were complying with federal law. One of those raids was on the Los Angeles marijuana grow operation of Todd McCormick and Peter McWilliams. McCormick used pot to treat the pain associated with a cancer treatment that had fused two of his vertebrae. McWilliams had been diagnosed with AIDS, then with non-Hodgkins lymphoma brought on by AIDS. Smoking marijuana eased his nausea, which helped him keep take his medication both to manage his AIDS the chemotherapy for his lymphoma. McWilliams was a self-help author, and had become an outspoken civil liberties activist. With respect to pot, he also made no attempt to hide the fact that while it was medicinal, it also made him feel good. The high took his mind off the fact that he was battling two diseases. McWilliams and McCormick were raided in 1997, by DEA agents. As McWilliams later described it, “guns drawn, commando-style.” Because they were tried on federal charges, the jury wasn’t allowed to hear that the two men had broken no California laws. McWilliams’ doctors were also prohibited from testifying about his marijuana use. Because of those restrictions, McWilliams pleaded guilty and hoped for leniency. But after his arrest, McWilliams’ mother put up her house as collateral to post his bail. One condition of McWilliams’ bail was he refrain from smoking marijuana. Prosecutors told McWilliams and his mother that if he failed a drug test or was caught with pot she’d lose her house. So McWilliams abstained from using the drug. Consequently, he got sicker. McWilliams was found dead in his apartment. Overcome with nausea, he had thrown up, then choked and aspirated on his own vomit. The conservative icon and legalization advocate William F. Buckley eulogized McWilliams in his syndicated column. Murdered by DEA

Rev. WilliamsRev. Accleyne Williams 75, March 25, 1994 Boston MA – Williams a retired minister, died of a heart attack on, after struggling with 13 members of a masked, heavily armed Boston SWAT team that stormed his apartment. The police later revealed that an informant had given them incorrect information. “a warrant authorizing the raid was approved by Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Mary Lou Moran, even though the application supporting the warrant did not specify which apartment on the building’s second floor was to be targeted. It also failed to provide corroboration of the confidential informant’s tip that a Jamaican drug posse operated out of the building.” Murdered by Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Mary Lou Moran

Ismael MenaIsmael Mena 45, Sept. 29, 1999 Denver CO – Denver SWAT, acting on a tip from an informant, and claimed they knocked and announced themselves. Mena’s family said they never heard a knock or announcement. Once the police had broken into Mena’s home, they ascended a staircase and kicked open Mena’s bedroom door, where they found him standing with a rifle. The police claimed Mena fired at them first, and they responded by shooting him eight times. They found no drugs or contraband in the home. The SWAT team raided the wrong house. The Denver Police Department’s Internal Affairs division was the first to clear the SWAT cops of any wrongdoing, although it did find that the officer who prepared the search warrant had falsified information on an affidavit. A special prosecutor then cleared them as well. But several weeks later, new details started to filter out, raising new questions about the investigation, the raid, and the aftermath. First, an assistant to the special prosecutor came out and said that Mena’s body had been moved. A crime lab report then determined that the gunshot residue taken from Mena’s hands didn’t match Mena’s gun. Instead, it was consistent with the sort of residue from submachine guns like those used by the Denver SWAT team. Neither Mena’s gun, nor the bullets inside it had fingerprints on them. The mounting evidence suggested someone had tampered with Mena and his gun after the SWAT team killed him. In March 2000, the city of Denver settled with Mena’s family for $400,000. Rachel HoffmanRachel Hoffman 23, May 7, 2008 Tallahassee FL – was murdered by drug traffickers in 2008 after agreeing to work as a police informant. In February 2007, Hoffman was arrested after a traffic stop search turned up 25 grams of marijuana. A year later, police searched her home and found another 5 ounces of pot, plus four Ecstasy pills. In exchange for dropping the charges, Hoffman agreed to become a confidential informant for the Tallahassee Police Department. Hoffman, a recent college graduate, was set up to buy $13,000 worth of cocaine, guns and MDMA from two men she had never met. During the transaction, the police lost track of Hoffman as the dealers took her to a different location than the one initially agreed upon. They murdered her with one of the guns she had intended to buy. Outrage over Hoffman’s death spurred the Florida legislature to pass “Rachel’s Law” in 2009, which requires extra training for police officers who work with informants, and removes the possibility of lighter sentences in exchange for informant work. No Photo Available-001Brian Sullivan 22, July 15, 1993 San Francisco CA – Sullivan had an unloaded shotgun on his bike when Wohler responded to an emergency call about him. He was riding on a bicycle, away from Officer Wohler in his car, and rode into his parent’s garage and closed the garage door. Officer Wohler reportedly opened fire through the closed garage door. He then followed Sullivan to a side yard, and as Sullivan started up a ladder to the roof, unarmed, Wohler reportedly fired twice; one bullet entered Sullivan’s buttocks and traveled to his heart, killing him. Although Wohler later stated he had never entered the side yard, his bullet casing was found near where a neighbor said she saw him stand and shoot up at Sullivan. The investigation by homicide detectives was seriously botched, and Officer Wohler was allowed to remain at the crime scene as investigators collected evidence. A key statement by an eyewitness disputing Wohler’s account was disregarded, as were ballistics tests that undermined the officer’s version of what took place. Investigators were not persuaded even when Wohler was forced to change his story after a bullet casing was later found (not by investigators) that confirmed the key eyewitness’s account. Wohler claimed Sullivan was shot while he was in the garage. When Wohler was confronted with his own conflicting testimony, he told a homicide investigator, “You know, I’m not stupid. I’ve been around long enough to know the way it works. And I mean, if I’m gonna leave a casing behind, I will cover myself, you know. I’m gonna say, `Hey the guy made a furtive move’ or `Yeah, my gun accidentally discharged.’ I mean, you know..” Sullivan was shot in the back and killed by Officer William Wohler, at Sullivan’s parents’ home in the Excelsior District.
